    VISION/GUIDING PRINCIPLES

    The North Penn Community Health Foundation seeks to:

    • Be a catalyst for change;
    • Promote lasting value;
    • Identify and advocate for low- and moderate-income individuals/families*; and
    • Support innovative and collaborative approaches to solutions addressing unmet community needs.

    The foundation’s guiding principles are applied by the staff and board when making funding decisions to assess whether evidence about the applicant’s commitment to these principles can be demonstrated through past practice or incorporated into the framework of the proposed grant work plan.  In its review of requests for support of direct services or programs, the foundation highly values demonstrated efforts to explore partnerships and to leverage core competencies and resources among community partners that might not otherwise be available, as robust or as sustainable as an individual effort.   The foundation remains committed to considering grant requests from nonprofit organizations designed to help them develop/deliver high quality, high impact programs/services that are fiscally sustainable and responsive to community needs.

    (*) “Low and Moderate-income refers to individuals/families that are living in poverty or at risk for becoming impoverished.  There are numerous definitions of poverty.  The foundation accepts the federal poverty line as the level of income below which one cannot afford to purchase all the resources one requires to live and defines “moderate-income” as 250% of the federal poverty level adjusted for family size.

    MISSION
    The North Penn Community Health Foundation identifies, selects and invests in programs and agencies that will improve the health, welfare and quality of life of the community.
